Well not quite. Following on from my points yesterday about the failures of the Bush Administration, one did slip my mind. I guess when you have so many weapons-graded screw-up's to consider, it is only natural some get forgotten.
5/ Torture under the Bush Administration.
I guess in part I bring this up as this morning we force-fed another Joe Scarborough "if I shout louder it means I am right" episode. On this particular show, an obscure journalist had written a piece on Obama basically reversing some of the Bush policies on how to treat prisioners of the War on Terror. This journalist went on to say that if another terrorist attack on America happened, then Obama would be to blame as he had relaxed the interegation of prisioners (actually it has been proven that torture gets little or no information from anyone captured).
Obviously this was food and drink to our Joe. Who climbed upon his soap-box to tell us all that if it had not been for the torture of prisioners, then New York would have disappeared under a mushroom cloud. Give me a break Joe. The Bush lie machine used this tactic to win the election in 04. By 05 everyone knew it was this sort of scaremongering which was being used to fool people to believing they were going to die any day. "Fear and Consuption" is the name of this tactic.
Lest we also forget that the first attack took place when Bush was in office, so heaven forbid if this was to happen again, we have to blame Obama, but not Bush because he was more interested in reading "My pet goat" instead of the CIA report put in front of him a month before ?
I am hoping we do see a trial for Bush/Cheney and Rumsfield. They were not "saving" America as they claim, they were creating the next enemy. Feeding our fear and worries, letting people like Scarborough and Bill O'Reilly be their mouthpiece and telling us "how it is". This is our 'independent' news here apparantly. I can't ever imagine these types of imbeciles being allowed to host their own show on the BBC. At best they would get the 4am slot at Radio Norwich.
The pictures from Abu Grahib were bad enough for America. No doubt the stories of the men 'held without trial' at Gitmo will bear fruit over the next few years. Don't get me wrong, if they were fighting us defendig their homeland, we have to remove them from the battlefield. However then they have to be given POW status at the very least. It is how we ensure we don't let our own government get out of hand. Sadly they were allowed too, and with that, they bought America shame and tens of thousands of new enemies. Although for Mr Cheney and Co. I am sure it will all be worth their while :-(
