Well I wake up this morning in a country and a world finally free of George Bush, his entourage and the tyranny they emposed on us all.
Fantasists still claim that the "Bush Legacy" will be seen as a succesful one in time and will have it's place in history. You see most of these 'experts' on television everyday still throwing their body across the worst administration in history and speaking to their audience like uneducated children.
Interestingly enough, these buffons were complaining last night about George Bush being roundly booed by the millions at the Inauguration, yet when the hate rallies of the Republican party were shown, with Obama being branded a 'terrorist', the same individuals complained that this negative coverage dominating the news was helping Obama. So I say to them same people that maybe this 'booing' could help Bush's profile ?
Four things stick out for me about the Bush legacy. I'll even give him the benefit of the doubt and actually pretend he won Florida fair and square. This is how I feel history will portray him.
1) August 2001 - CIA hands Bush/Rice report titled "Bin Laden determined to strike at US", to which Bush replies to the operative "at least you have covered your ass". Was the report even read ? One month later America suffers it's worst attack since Pearl Harbor carried out by Muslim extremists from Saudi Arabia.
2) Sept 2001-2003 - Bush declares war on Terrorists. Over the course of 2 years, this war-drum beats towards Iraq and away from Bin Laden, Afganistan and the biggest culprit of all for the September 11 attacks Saudi Arabia. I
Iraq has no proven links with Al Quada or Osama Bin Laden. Iraq does not have Weapons of Mass Destruction. Iraq did not train or have any nationals involved in September 11th attacks. To date, over 4,ooo American and Allied troops have been lost and thousands more wounded. Iraq has lost close to 100,000 citizens who have lost their life during the occupation. America is currently spending $10 Billion dollars a month and has already spent $1 Trillion dollars there.
3) 2005 - Hurricane Katrina - Disaster along the Gulf Coast sees a city underwater, thousands dead and a death toll going into four figures. Aid does not arrive for days. America sees shocking news footage of people pleading for help. Bush praises the head of FEMA, the man responsible for doing nothing in the wake of their disaster. To date, still thousands upon thousands living in hotels/trailers.
4) 2008 - Financial Collapse - Corporate greed and unregulated financial practices see American economy collapse into an abyss. Warning signs ignored, huge companies offered tax breaks and financial incentives to major share-holders to ship jobs overseas. Car industry, which directly and indirectly employs over 3 million people on verge on bankrupcy, cannot get $20 Billion dollars of Government aid. Huge Bailout over $800 Billion awarded to financial institutions including AIG. CEO's still enjoy inflated salaries and bonuses despite economic hardship.
I am no expert, I am not on any 'straight-talk' TV shows paid lots of money to give my 'opinion'. However I do understand that when something is so rotten to the core, it should be pointed out and people should hold their hands up and say "I can't defend this guy anymore". Despite Bush not being with us, his 'legacy' will live on as people try to get jobs and feed their families. As we try to improve our schools, hospitals and infrastructure, I am sure we will be told that there is not enough money, we spent it all in Iraq. Yes Mr Bush and the very few supporters you have left, you have left us with a broken country and some broken hearts, but rest-assured, we'll make sure the history books know who is to really blame.
Apparantly Bush had a "Leaving Office Party" with close colleagues and friends who were chanting "Four more years" as he entered the room. I can only assume that sarcasm really does live and breathe in America ;-)
